Hamed Merdji and Marta Fajardo recognised for their research collaboration

We warmly congratulate our colleague Hamed Merdji, who recently joined the FLUX group, to whom the French Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2022 Mariano Gago prize for bilateral French-portugese research cooperations. On June 21^st 2022, he received the prize together with his collaborator Marta Fajardo of the Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbonne, for their common project “NanoXIMAGES”.

The two colleagues have known each other since they were doctoral students together at the Ecole Polytechnique, as can be read in the Ecole’s news feed.

This project will strengthen the cooperation between the Franco-Portuguese, which is already ongoing in the framework of the “NanoXCAN” project funded by the European Innovation Council’s Pathfinder program, which targets the development of a nanoscale virus imaging X-ray microscope.
